As recorded in Video Earthquake and Tsunami in japan 2011 an earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter Scale struck the northeastern coast of Japan around 0546 GMT on Friday.

The biggest earthquake to hit Japan since records began 140 years ago struck the country's northeast coast on Friday. This caused the tsunami four meters in the port city Kamishi and tremors that shook buildings in the capital Tokyo, more than 300 miles away.
